Dr. Maria Fideliz De la Paz

Qualifications

Dr. Maria was granted the Scholarship of the Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional (AECI) by the Instituto Cervantes in Manila for observership in Centro de Oftalmología Barraquer (2001 -2002). She has a Master in Anterior Segment (2001-2003) from Institut Universitari Barraquer and completed Barcelona Spain Fellowship in Anterior Segment in 2007. In 2016, Dr. Maria earned the Spain Doctorate from Centro de Oftalmología Barraquer, Barcelona, Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona.

  • - Corresponding Member of the Royal Academy of Physicians of Catalonia for publications in top peer reviewed journal, 2021
  • - Distinguished Keratoprosthesis Surgeon awarded by the Massachussetts Eye and Ear Infirmary Harvard University, 2019
  • - ALCON award for best publication in an international peer reviewed journal, Barraquer Eye Institute 2016
  • - ALCON award for best publication in an international peer reviewed journal, Barraquer Eye Institute, 2010

Dr. Maria’s professional activities include:

  • - Associate consultant of Cornea, External Eye Disease, Ocular surface at the OFTALVIST Clinic in Barcelona, Spain (Oct 2022- present)
  • - Consultant surgeon performing surgeries of the ocular surface and cornea such as limbal transplants, ocular surface reconstruction, penetrating keratoplasties, Boston keratoprosthesis, osteo-odonto and tibial bone keratoprosthesis at the OFTALVIST Clinic in Barcelona, Spain (Oct 2022- present) *Presently the only surgeon in Spain and surrounding countries performing osteo-odonto keratoprosthesis, tibial bone osteo keratoprosthesis. Past Position: Consultant Specialist of Cornea, External Eye Disease, Ocular Surface and Eye Banking (2008-2022) -BARRAQUER EYE CENTER, Barcelona, SpaRefractive Surgery (Excimer and femtosecond-assisted procedures (LASIK, LASEK, PRK, incisional surgery, intracorneal implants, corneal cross linking, ICL surgery, clear lens extraction and multifocal IOL implantation).
