The inventor of the stitch method, Dr. Waldemar Merck is a renowned ear, nose, and throat surgeon known for his significant contributions to the field of otoplasty. Dr. Merck studied medicine at the University Hospital in Freiburg, Germany. He held various resident and senior physician positions, and qualified as a professor in 1978. He then became a registered physician for ear, nose, and throat and plastic surgery and assumed the position of Head of ENT Department at the Vincentius Hospital in Konstanz and at the Konstanz Clinic from 1978 till 2003.
In 1996, Dr. Merck developed the famous “Dr. Merck Stitch Method” which enabled gentle and uncomplicated ear corrections, making it a preferred choice for both children and adults. The procedure used can correct all protruding ears with a single thread resulting in a particularly natural and beautiful ear.
Dr. Merck has spoken at many medical conferences all over the world on the topic of “ear correction surgery”. His last appointment as a guest speaker was in April 2017 at the AMWC (“Aesthetic & Anti-aging Medicine World Congress”) in Monaco.
