The View Hospital Successfully Performs the First Robotic-Assisted Sleeve Gastrectomy in the Private Sector

The View Hospital, successfully performed the first Robotic-Assisted Bariatric Surgery at the private sector in Qatar. The procedure “Robotic-Assisted Sleeve Gastrectomy” was performed by Dr. Salaam Sadi, Consultant in Bariatric and General Surgery using the Da Vinci Xi® surgical system.The surgery was performed using the cutting-edge robotic platform known as Da Vinci Xi, which incorporates the latest advancements in robotic technology.

The procedure was performed by Dr. Salaam Sadi, Consultant in Bariatric & General Surgery. A full time consultant at The View Hospital, Dr. Sadi is recognized for his advanced training and expertise in Bariatric surgery (weight loss), minimally invasive surgery and robotic surgery. Dr. Sadi is American Board certified and has a track record of more than 500 robotic surgery procedures in the last three years in the U.S.A., including bariatric procedures, upper GI procedures, complex abdominal wall hernia repair and many others. Dr. Sadi has also established the robotic bariatric program at Winchester Medical Center – U.S.A.

The procedure involved using robotic staplers and instruments with high precision and accuracy to remove approximately 80% of the stomach. To minimize the risk of potential complications such as leaks or bleeding, we utilized a specialized technique to reinforce the staple line using natural tissues. On the same night following the surgery, the patient was able to walk in the surgical floor hallway. She met the discharge criteria and was eligible to be discharged the next day.
