Notably, he also holds a Fellowship training and certificate in Robotic/Minimally Invasive and Bariatric (weight loss) Surgery from Albany Medical College / Albany Medical Center – USA.

Currently serving as a consultant Bariatric and General surgeon at The View Hospital, Dr. Salaam's expertise extends to various surgical domains. With advanced training and proficiency in Bariatric surgery (weight loss), minimally invasive surgery, and robotic surgery, all attained from the United States of America, he stands at the forefront of surgical innovation. He performed the first robotic general and bariatric surgeries in the private sector in Qatar upon joining The View Hospital. These include the first "Robotic-assisted Sleeve Gastrectomy" and "Robotic-Assisted Right Inguinal Hernia Repair with Mesh - TAPP Technique" using the Da Vinci Xi® surgical system.

Before joining The View Hospital, Dr. Salaam had amassed an impressive record of accomplishment, having personally conducted over 500 robotic surgery procedures across the United States. This extensive experience showcases his profound expertise and proficiency in the field of robotic surgery.

Before his tenure at The View Hospital, Dr. Salaam contributed significantly as an attending (consultant) surgeon at Winchester Medical Center in the United States. During his time there, he played an instrumental role in establishing, cultivating, and sustaining successful programs such as Robotic Bariatric Surgery, Endoscopic Bariatric Procedures, Obesity Medicine, Robotic Abdominal Wall Reconstruction, and the Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease Center.

His achievements encompass the first endoscopic bariatric revision procedure at Winchester Medical Center and the pioneering advanced robotic abdominal wall reconstruction procedure using the innovative robotic eTEP technique at the same hospital.

Dr. Salaam's educational journey includes two years of dedicated research at Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, followed by the completion of his General Surgery training at Georgetown University Hospital and Washington Hospital Center. His achievements culminated in obtaining the coveted certificate of the American Board of Surgery. Subsequently, he pursued further specialization through the Bariatric, Minimally Invasive, and Robotic Surgery Fellowship at Albany Medical Center in Albany, New York. There, under the mentorship of Dr. Paul Singh, a prominent figure in robotic surgery, Dr. Salaam honed his skills and insights. This training laid the foundation for his role as a consultant surgeon at Winchester Medical Center.

Dr. Salaam is particularly acclaimed for his specialization in minimally invasive surgical interventions for obesity and metabolic disorders, leveraging laparoscopic and robotic techniques. His proficiency encompasses robotic surgery for weight loss, abdominal wall hernia, and Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease.

At The View Hospital, Dr. Salaam spearheads the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program, an interdisciplinary initiative that provides comprehensive services to individuals seeking weight loss solutions. The program encompasses medical weight loss, using diet, medications, injections that help with weight loss, endoscopic procedures including the intra-gastric balloon, as well as surgical weight loss procedures like sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, Omega loop or mini-gastric bypass, Duodenal Switch, SADI-S procedures, and revision surgeries for patients with prior bariatric procedures.

Dr. Salaam holds prestigious titles including being American Board Certified in General Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS). His active memberships in esteemed organizations such as the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), and the American Hernia Society (AHS) underscore his commitment to professional growth and development.
